Grant Spencer is an experienced financial sector leader with over four decades of experience in central banking, financial regulation, and corporate strategy. He has held some of the most senior positions within the Reserve Bank of New Zealand, including Acting Governor, Deputy Governor, and Head of Financial Stability, where he oversaw the Bank’s monetary policy, financial markets, and prudential regulation functions.
In addition to his central banking leadership, Grant held executive roles at ANZ Bank in both New Zealand and Australia, with responsibilities spanning group strategy, mergers and acquisitions, financial markets operations, and treasury management. His broad expertise encompasses the development and implementation of regulatory frameworks, strategic policy formulation, and cross-border financial collaboration.
Grant has also made substantial contributions internationally, serving as Chair of the OECD Committee on Financial Markets and participating in advisory and leadership roles with the International Monetary Fund and various Asia-Pacific central banking forums. His current appointments include Chair of the Investment Committee at Australian Food Super Pty Ltd and Teaching Fellow at Victoria University of Wellington.
Grant holds a Master of Science (Economics) with Distinction from the London School of Economics and a Bachelor of Arts (Honours, First Class) in Economics and Information Science from Victoria University of Wellington. His exceptional knowledge of global financial systems, governance expertise, and strategic vision position him as a critical contributor to the ongoing success and resilience of Australian Food Super.
